Trip to Turkey, a journey with taste of intercultural exchange, traditions, history, arts… IDI has been organizing several intercultural trips to Turkey every summer. These study tours are designed and organised to strengthen existing relations with tour participants and build bridges between communities, organizations and cultures. These series of interfaith trips to Turkey are parts of the effort to share the cultural richness of this beautiful country with the community we serve. The trip helps discover the historical, cultural and natural beauties of Turkey, a living example of the harmony of different faiths for centuries. IDI strives to make study tours a success, with participants as tour delegates, in cooperation with Turkey’s participating cities, community and business representatives, families and NGOs. Participants have the opportunity meet and interact with the different sections of Turkish society acting as our hosts: individuals, business people, cultural religious representatives, educational institutions and officials in the designated cities.
Since 2014, Intercultural Dialogue Institute organizes trips overseas in order to forge bonds of friendship between the West and the East. This initiative is part of our commitment to strengthen our mandate to a comprehensive dialogue ethics as part of an intercultural exchange program. Through these visits, participants have the chance to witness history and reflect the different cultures and traditions – on the spot – that coexisted for centuries, to learn and observe the modern and traditional cultural practices.
We aim with such a program to consolidate solidarity and dialogue in our community by sharing cultural experiences during the trip. The tour aims to make known the traditions, history, arts, attractions and gastronomy of the country visited. Participants have the opportunity to experience and observe the daily life and the education of local families by visiting them in their homes. They also have the opportunity to visit universities and government offices. This is a self-set-itinerary trip which means that it has a custom character with the ability to change the travel route and the dates of departure and arrival. In addition, participants have the chance to meet their peers / co-worker in the country visited through partner organizations of IDI with various non-governmental and governmental organizations in the country visited. It goes without saying that the trip allows among participants to discover the historical, cultural, touristic and natural beauty of the region.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with local people from different walks of the host society according to their interest and their occupation:
• Academic institutions (Universities, Private College, High Schools, High school, Elementary School)
• Non-governmental organizations
• Governmental and municipal organizations
• Public institutions (hospitals)
• The media institutions (National Daily, TV station, news agency)
• Touristic Attractions (historical, cultural, natural, religious, bazaars)
• Local families (visits and dinner at local people)
